Vietnam: Export of wood and forest products in September 2021 decreased by 8.2% compared to August 2021

According to the General Department of Forestry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the export value of wood and forest products in September 2021 reached USD 821 million, down 8.2% compared to August 2021.

The export value of wood and forest products in September 2021 reached USD 821 million, down 8.2% compared to August 2021. Accumulated 9 months reached 11.97 billion USD, up 31.9% over the same period. In which, wood and wood products reached 11.14 billion USD, up 30.9%; forest products reached USD 832 million, up 46.4% over the same period.

The main export markets for wood and forest products include: the United States, Japan, China, the EU and South Korea. Currently, these markets account for over 90% of the total export value of wood and forest products.

In the opposite direction, the import value of wood and wood products in September 2021 is estimated at 211 million USD; accumulated in 9 months is estimated at over USD 2,275 billion, up 30% over the same period. The main import markets of wood and forest products include China, the United States, Cameroon, Thailand, and Chile, accounting for about 55% of the total value of imported wood and forest products in the past 9 months.

Thus, in the first 9 months of the year, timber and forest products export surplus were estimated at 9.699 billion USD, up 45%.
