TNPL does not provide a timeline for the start of commercial operations. The pulp line is part of an expansion project at the Mondipatti plant with a focus on shifting from new printing & writing capacity to new packaging capacity late last year.

TNPL has so far declined to provide details about it.

The Mondipatti factory can now produce 200,000 tons/year of different types of carton packaging on a single machine. The Kagithapuram factory, also in the state of Tamil Nadu, can produce about 400,000 tons/year of writing paper.
