In today’s article, we invite you to learn more about biomass (biomass fuel, also known as biomass), which is expected to be the future of the energy industry, capable of replacing coal in the future.
What is Biomass?
Biomass is a material with a fiber composition of 75%, so it is easy to catch fire, not only that, the ability to maintain the combustion of biomass is longer than that of other burning fuels such as coal, firewood, and gas.
Uses of biomass
When using firewood pressed into bars or pressed husks to replace coal, DO oil, FO oil or charcoal used to burn industrial boilers, processing agricultural products and food. Replacing fuel with rice husk is very easy because the coal-fired furnace can be used immediately without changing the furnace structure.
Although the calorific value of gas, DO oil, and FO oil is 3 times higher than that of coal and rice husk firewood, not only that, the selling price of gas, DO, and FO is 15-20 times higher. The use of rice husk pressed rods and pellets makes fuel instead of traditional fuels (oil, gas…) both reduced operating costs, and independent of fossil fuels that are increasingly depleted, while contributing to reducing the greenhouse effect. Moreover, the ash generated in the process of burning rice husk pellets will be a very necessary source of raw materials for other industries.
How is Biomass formed?
Rice husk firewood
The raw rice husks are put into the press, the automatic drying part of the machine will reduce the moisture content to less than 12%, then pressed into a hard wood stick, about 10 – 40 cm long, with a diameter of 40 – 80 cm. cm. For every 1.05 kg of rice husk, it will produce 1 kg of finished rice husk firewood. The productivity of the press line can reach 150 – 320 kg/hour. Because this agricultural waste itself already contains a binder (called lignin), when pressed at a temperature of about 250°C, the effect of frictional heat and heat from the injection mold has helped create a solid adhesion substance. Therefore, this rice husk firewood is stronger than other common consumer firewood.
Rice husk pellets
With 1kg of rice husk pellets, it will provide energy equivalent to 0.9kg of coal (with a heat output of 5,200 kilo calories, no sulfur gas, so it doesn’t pollute the environment). The technology of pellet fired boiler is similar to coal fired boiler technology, so it does not need to spend a lot of money to invest.
Can Biomass replace coal fuel?
With advantages such as flammability, ability to maintain combustion for a long time, affordable price, and environmental friendliness, Biomass is expected to be a fuel that can replace fossil fuels in the future.
