The types of paper for making cartons must always ensure the quality requirements because these types of boxes are always used for packaging and transporting goods. Besides the function of protecting goods and avoiding collisions, cartons also play a significant role in promoting the brand of the business to customers. That’s why the material for making cartons is always focused.
What is Carton Paper?
Carton (carton paper) is a type of paper commonly used in the printing industry. Each carton usually has at least 2 layers, including 1 corrugated layer and 1 lining. Some types of carton paper can be up to 9 layers with 5 lining and 4 corrugated layers.
Currently, carton paper is used in the production of cartons to store goods and assist in transportation. Besides the function of protecting goods from bumps and damage, cartons also help create an impression of the brand and promote products to customers. And most of the product manufacturing industries have a need to use cartons.
Carton paper production materials
Carton is produced with the main raw material is paper. Ordinary cartons contain ingredients of:
- 74% paper
- 22% polyethylene
- 4% aluminum
As for the cartons used in low temperature environment (cold storage) usually have 80% paper and 20% polyethylene.
Many people question whether carton is a recycled product or not. The answer is yes because after use, the carton can be recycled and used many times over. This both saves resources and effectively protects the environment. Usually, after the old cartons are collected, they will be ground into powder and through machines and the stages of cutting, dieing and printing to form cartons.
Types of paper for making cartons today
To get good quality cartons, the most important factor is choosing the right type of paper. Among the types of paper making cartons today, corrugated paper is the most commonly used type. Corrugated paper includes the following types:
- Single corrugated paper: is a 3-layer carton paper. Made up of 3 layers of paper including 2 flat layers on the outside and 1 corrugated layer in the middle. These are also the most commonly used types of paper today.
- Double corrugated paper is a 5-layer carton paper: It is arranged alternately between 2 corrugated layers and 3 flat layers. This type of paper is used in the production of heavy duty cartons and for export.
- Triple corrugated paper is 7-layer corrugated paper: Three includes 4 layers of flat paper and 3 layers of corrugated paper with high bearing capacity. This is the type of paper used to make cartons to transport heavy goods.
Corrugated Carton Paper Texture
The corrugated texture of the carton paper is divided into 4 types, A, B, C and E. You can see the details through the image below.
In which, the most common type of wave structure is wave C and is used to replace wave A. Specifically, the shape of wave C is reduced by 15% compared to wave A, and wave A is 15% less compressible than wave C. and 25% less B wave. Or more simply, wave B is 50% more compressible than wave A and 25% better than wave C. Type B-carrying cartons are often used as packing boxes, fruit boxes, etc.
In the opposite direction, the thickness of the wave E is not large and is only used in normal packaging. The corrugated side has more colorful printing.
