The increasing trend in the use of packaging paper for trade and export, along with the restriction of Chinese production, contributes to helping Vietnamese paper packaging businesses benefit.
Numerous enterprises in Vietnam’s packaging paper industry are benefiting from the increasing demand for packaging paper in trade and from the recent limited production of China.
In particular, the development of e-commerce in Vietnam with rapid export growth in the past time has accelerated the current demand for packaging paper. Due to the new rules of China, this country is currently restricting production and becoming a major paper importer, creating opportunities for paper enterprises in Vietnam. In addition, the outstanding advantages of packaging paper compared to plastic, metal and wood packaging have made this item become popular in various countries around the world.
The potential of the packaging industry in Vietnam is huge since packaging paper is now the main product, accounting for nearly 50% of the total paper consumption and 45% of total paper import turnover. Some of the most important industries using packaging paper include food, cosmetics, consumer goods, electronics, footwear and seafood.
Statistics from Vietnam Pulp and Paper Association have shown that Vietnam consumes 3.5 million tons per year, of which there are 350.000 tons of printing paper, 2.5 million tons of packaging paper, 195.000 tons of tissue and other types. By 2025, forecasted demand for packaging paper can be up to 10 million tons.
